East meets West -- Italian-Korean fusion birthday dinner.

My gastronomical cravings yearns for a taste of something spicy and sweet yet something unique. I got tired of the usual chicken and spaghetti norms during birthday celebrations so I opted for something different that the entire family has never tasted before. Desperate to find a menu at the last minute, I found a recipe that is perfect to satisfy my cravings. One that is something new, edible, and healthy -- suitable for my mom who needs to get all the nutrition she needs in one meal (she's sick and that's another story). It's not other than the popular Korean dish (aside from Kimbap, of course!) is Bibimbap.

I found the recipe on maangchi.com which really helped a lot because the way she cooked it seemed effortless giving me all the reason to try it especially on my big day. The result? It was delicious! Everybody liked it especially my hubby, who's never a really big fan of my cooking (sob! Tears of joy). Here are the end result of my blood and sweat. ^_^

Veggies on a platter to serve.
We didn't have a bowl for the
 rice so we improvised.

My little brother is not really a big fan of the green stuff so as soon as he learned that I'm going healthy greens for my birthday, he decided to prepare his all-time favorite pasta. Mom, too, helped with the fried chicken even though her taste buds weren't in the works due to her chemo treatments, and I daresay she hasn't lost her talent for cooking. It was till yummy.

How did the spaghetti taste after eating a plateful of spicy Bibimbap? See below and you be the judge.
